Over the course of two years, portrait photographer Stephen Voss spent his time away from photographing Washington’s political elite meticulously capturing the remarkable trees of the National Bonsai Museum’s collection. When he approached us to design a monograph that would respectfully showcase these intimate portraits, we immediately said yes. Our objective was to create a book that evoked the experience of walking undisturbed through the collection; allowing time to admire each detail. In Training features over seventy of Stephen’s most arresting photographs, restrained typography and striking pen and ink illustrations by Spiros Halaris.
