Elmina
Brand

Celebrated chef Eric Adjepong’s DC restaurant, Elmina, is an homage to Ghanaian cuisine and its international influence. Rooted in tradition yet boldly contemporary, Elmina, named after the Ghanaian coastal fishing village, offers both an intimate glimpse into the chef’s culinary journey and a vivid portrait of West African cuisine—honoring its rich, complex history. The vibrant hues of Kente cloth and the geometric patterns of traditional weaving form the heartbeat of the brand and have influenced both its physical and digital presence, symbolizing a fusion of history, craftsmanship, and identity. This combined with a distinctive wordmark adapted from a typeface by West African type designer O’Plérou, spotlight the restaurant’s cultural roots and experiential menu.
