Folger Shakespeare Library
Exhibition Design

The Folger Shakespeare Library, which houses the world's largest Shakespeare collection, has reopened after a four-year renovation. We were honored to collaborate with Studio A on Imprints in Time, the inaugural show in their rotating exhibition gallery. The exhibit features fifty-two rarely displayed books and manuscripts from the private collection of Stuart and Mimi Rose. From space planning and wall typography to wayfinding and object labels, we partnered with the exhibition team to build all aspects of the show from the ground up. Our favorite design element was the creation of a massive, kaleidoscopic wallpaper featuring nine custom medallions that weave the rich diversity of authors and objects in the collection together. The result is an elegant and energetic visual framing around an incredibly diverse collection of artifacts spanning literature, science, religion and philosophy.
