La’ Shukran is our third collaboration with the James Beard Award’s most recent outstanding chef, Michael Rafidi. The late-night bar/bistro, which translates to “no, thank you” in Arabic, is pure fun. With arak-headlining cocktails by Radovan Jankovic and a natural-leaning wine list from William Simons, the food and beverage programs exude experimentation and confidence. We wanted the brand to share that same sense of playfulness, vitality and to be inspired by the vibrant, nostalgic energy of the Levant’s iconic nightlife. With expressive illustrations and loads of color, the design pairs seamlessly with Natalie Park’s lively, retro-funk interiors. All photography by Hawkeye Johnson.
